Choosing the right boiler for your house
Plenty of the boiler problems we get called to aren't faults in the boiler. They're a combi fitted in a house with three bathrooms, a boiler far too big for a two-bed terrace, or a new boiler connected to a system full of sludge. The survey is where we work out which type and size suits your house and how you use hot water.
Combi boilers
Heating and hot water straight from the mains, with no tanks or cylinder. A good fit for flats and most homes with one bathroom.
System boilers
Work with a hot water cylinder, usually unvented. The better choice when two showers might be running at the same time.
Regular boilers
For homes with a cold water tank in the loft. Sometimes still the right call, particularly where the mains pressure is poor.

What's included when we fit a boiler
- A proper survey: flue route, gas pipe size, mains water flow and pressure, and how your household uses hot water
- The old boiler, and any tanks you no longer need, removed and taken away
- Your system cleaned in line with the BS 7593 code of practice, by chemical clean or power flush depending on its condition
- A magnetic system filter and inhibitor fitted to keep the new boiler clean
- Controls that meet the Boiler Plus rules in England, set up and explained
- Condensate pipe routed properly and protected against freezing
- Benchmark checklist completed, guarantee registered with the manufacturer and Building Control notified through Gas Safe
Worcester Bosch and Baxi, fitted by an approved installer
Matt is a Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer and a Baxi Approved installer. Both manufacturers only give that status to installers whose work they trust, and both offer longer guarantees on qualifying boilers when one of their approved installers fits them. Your quote will say exactly which guarantee comes with the boiler we're recommending.

Moving the boiler or changing the system
Plenty of our installs involve more than a straight swap. Moving the boiler out of a bedroom cupboard and into the kitchen or loft. Taking out the tanks to free up space. Upgrading a tired gravity-fed system to mains pressure with an unvented cylinder. These take a little longer and need more planning, and we'll talk through every option at the survey.
